The Payroll Consultant can independently handle Japan monthly payroll tasks and ensure accuracy & timeliness of payroll process. She / He will work with multiple stakeholders including HR and Finance team to make sure payroll related tasks are handled properly, respond to Japan employee queries, and engaged in ad-hoc tasks & projects.
Key Job Accountabilities
Handle monthly Japan payroll process, including the validation of input & output, payroll report reconciliation & finalization, statutory and non-statutory remittance & reporting, GL reporting, prepare for documents to comply with internal & external audit requirements
Help with ad-hoc tasks including report delivery, trouble shooting, User Acceptance Test (UAT) testing, severance payment calculation, support payroll projects and respond to queries from HRBP and accounting/controllership
Work with vendor to manage social insurance, payroll system modification and Japan year-end activity, monitor vendor service delivery and budget planning
Identify and share internal best practices and keep abreast of trends in Payroll/HRIS development to improve the efficiency of internal workflow and processes
Control payroll process, flag potential risks, and propose corrective action plans where necessary
Education And Experience Required
Graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 50% and above aggregate scores. – Bachelor’s degree or above
8 to 10 years of total experience with at least 8 years of experience in payroll
Language Proficiency – Native level Japanese, Business level English
Professional And Technical Competencies
Experience in Japan Payroll process inhouse or outsourcing experience
Good knowledge of Japan payroll process including Year-end activity and statutory remittance is a must
Experience in cloud HR solutions (SAP, workday/time management) will be a plus
Exposure in large scale HRIS application development /integration will be an advantage
The candidate shall speak fluent Japanese and English
Analytical and strong problem-solving skill
